Forza Motorsport: The End of an Era? | What’s Next for Turn 10 Studios (2026)

Is Forza Motorsport already heading towards the sunset? Despite launching in October 2023, it appears Turn 10 Studios is significantly scaling back support for its latest racing sim. While the game will remain playable, the future looks uncertain. Turn 10 recently announced they're halting the addition of any new in-game content – no new cars, no thrilling new tracks, and no exciting new features. Regular bug fixes and updates? Those are off the table too. However, the studio assures players that online multiplayer support will continue, though the long-term viability remains a question mark.

But here's where it gets controversial... Turn 10 isn't completely abandoning ship. They plan to host special events and competitions throughout 2026. This seems designed to keep players engaged, offering opportunities to earn previously limited rewards, cars, and other exclusive content. Think of it as a 'greatest hits' tour. The official reason for this dramatic shift? Turn 10 states that they are re-allocating resources to focus on Forza Horizon 6, slated for release in 2026. The announcement of Forza Horizon 6 has definitely excited many racing game fans, but there are some who would have preferred more support for Forza Motorsport.

And this is the part most people miss... This news follows significant layoffs at Turn 10 Studios in July 2025, where Xbox Games reportedly cut about half of the studio's staff. Could these layoffs be a contributing factor to the decision to sunset Forza Motorsport? It's certainly a question worth asking.

To quote Turn 10 directly: "As our team shifts its focus toward delivering the best possible experience with Forza Horizon 6 in 2026, we do not plan to introduce new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes for Forza Motorsport. However, we will continue supporting the game by keeping online servers active, hosting special events and competitions, and reintroducing previously released Featured Tours and reward cars on a monthly basis, until all content is available for you to enjoy anytime."

So, is this truly the end of the road for Forza Motorsport, or can Turn 10 keep the racing community engaged with special events and legacy content? Is focusing on Forza Horizon 6 the best move, or should more resources have been allocated to maintaining the current Forza Motorsport? What do you think?
