Mainoo's struggle for playing time is a result of United's rigid 3-4-3 formation under manager Ruben Amorim, which has not suited the young midfielder's style. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that West Ham have made a firm approach to take Mainoo on loan in January, offering guaranteed minutes, something United cannot provide.
West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo sees Mainoo as a dynamic midfielder who can carry the ball, dictate tempo, and break lines, fitting a glaring need in the team. However, United's stance on sending Mainoo abroad rather than strengthening a Premier League rival complicates West Ham's pursuit.
Meanwhile, Napoli have also rekindled their interest in Mainoo, with discussions underway over a potential January loan that includes an option to buy. The reigning Serie A champions, managed by Antonio Conte, are seeking midfield reinforcements after Kevin De Bruyne's injury.
