Riyadh's Urban Art Renaissance: Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition 2026 (2026)

Tuwaiq Sculpture Exhibition: Transforming Riyadh's Urban Fabric with Large-Scale Public Artworks

As the cultural landscape of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, continues to evolve at a rapid pace, the seventh edition of the Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium and Exhibition is set to make a bold statement. From February 9 to 22, 2026, the city's skyline will be punctuated with 25 large-scale artworks, transforming a once-industrial site into a vibrant urban installation. This exhibition, organized by Riyadh Art under the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, serves as a cultural bridge between local heritage and global artistic perspectives.

A Catalyst for Urban Renewal

The theme 'Traces of What Will Be' for the 2026 edition brings together artists from 18 different countries, showcasing their unique interpretations of the city's ongoing renewal. The public art exhibition, occupying Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Street (Al Tahlia), invites residents and visitors to witness the creation of these artworks in a live setting. Raw, locally sourced stone and reclaimed metal are transformed into finished forms, emphasizing a material intelligence that directly reflects the city's evolving identity.

Reflecting the City's Renewal

The Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium and Exhibition is a testament to the city's commitment to public art as a catalyst for urban renewal and an enhanced quality of life. The artworks, ranging from large-scale abstractions to intricate textures in granite and steel, showcase a dedication to durability and responsible material use within the urban context. This exhibition is not just a temporary display; it's a permanent addition to Riyadh's cultural fabric.

A Lasting Legacy

Each of the 25 sculptures will eventually become part of Riyadh Art's Permanent Collection, finding a long-term home in prominent public spaces across the city. Since the program's inception in 2019, over 170 artists have contributed to this growing civic gallery, with more than 60 works already integrated into the daily lives of Riyadh residents. The Tuwaiq Sculpture Symposium continues to enrich the community through workshops and panel talks, ensuring that contemporary art remains an integral part of the city's identity.
