Seahawks Bolster Practice Squad with Undrafted Defensive Tackle
The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their Week 11 showdown with the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams by adding depth to their practice squad. According to NFL insider Aaron Wilson, the team signed rookie defensive tackle Wy'Kevious 'Bubba' Thomas, who played college ball at South Alabama and was an All-Sun Belt Conference selection in four of his five seasons as a Jaguar. Thomas was signed as an undrafted free agent in the spring and spent the preseason with the team, tallying seven tackles across three games, with his best performance coming against the Green Bay Packers.
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 303 pounds, Thomas isn't known for his pass-rushing prowess, having recorded only 7.5 sacks in his college career. However, his durability and tackling ability could be key, especially after the team placed Jarran Reed on IR last Saturday. The Seahawks had two free practice squad spots available after promoting Cody White and Quinton Bohanna to the 53-man roster, and Thomas' addition fills one of those spots.
The Seahawks also worked out two veterans, cornerback Tyler Hall and guard Nick Leverett, as potential additions to the practice squad. Hall is seeking a third stint with the team after spending three days on the practice squad in 2024 and being released in August. The veteran corner hasn't seen significant playing time since 2022, when he was a key depth piece for the Las Vegas Raiders. Leverett, an undrafted free agent out of Rice, was recently let go from the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad and has also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots.
